Lost and Found and Other Details

Good morning, Soccer Families!

Our lost and found box has been overflowing.  It's by the bathroom water fountain at each practice/game.  Plan on checking it just in case... water bottles and jackets have a way of running away sometimes!  It's a good idea to write your child's name on their ball (or rewrite it if the name has faded).  That way it can be returned to you if it ends up in lost and found. Sharpies are kept in the red box that is by the registration table.

Games have been fun to watch and hear about.  It's so good to hear parents encouraging players from the sidelines.  Keep cheering on your players, but please leave instructing them about soccer during games to the coaches. Thank you again, to everyone that makes these games happen on and off the field!

Halloween, October 31st, falls on a Thursday this year.  Some coaches will not be at practice that day.  Check with your coaches or team parents to find out if your child's team will be practicing.

It is getting dark faster.  Please talk to your children to make sure they know where they can find you after practice, and keep your eyes out for young children that might need help finding their parent.  Next Thursday we will have glow sticks for players and their little siblings.  They will be at the registration table area for them to pick up on their way out.  That's my favorite time of the whole soccer season...  seeing the field light up with glow sticks, as it represents a season of fun, hard work, and growth!

Soccer Update

We're on a roll with soccer games!  The weather has been amazing.  So much love and support is being shown on and around the fields each time we meet.  God's presence is evident!

Thank you all for your patience as we have been figuring out teams and working out other details.

And thank you, volunteers, for all you're doing!!  If you will be unavailable for any of your scheduled volunteer times and can't find a replacement, let us know, and we'll help find someone to cover for you.

If players are not able to be at a practice or a game, please let their coach know.

Don't hesitate to talk to your coach or leadership if you have any questions or concerns.  We're here to help.

Off to a Great Start This season is ...

 Off to a Great Start

This season is off to a great start!  Thanks to everyone for helping these first practices run so smoothly!

We have a record number of kids that signed up this year.  We had enough 6-8 kids that we created 4 teams in that age group, and added a field.  The older kids were a little more tricky, and our amazing coaches were tasked with the difficult job of sorting and arranging these kids into manageable teams, while utilizing the same space we've always used.  Not an easy job, but they have had such wonderful attitudes about it.  Huge thanks to our fantastic coaches!

Because we have so many kids, the coaches have decided to create another age group of teams.  Basically, they are dividing the 12-18 group of kids up into an older group and a younger group, and pulling a few of the older 9-11 kids to ease the numbers we have in that age group.  So we will end up with these approximate age categories: 9-11, 12-13, and 14-18.  As always, there is some overlap in ages due to differences in skill and temperament of kids.  The leadership has reached out to families that are affected by this shift. Please communicate with the leadership team with ANY concerns, and please be gracious with all of us as we deal with these growing pains.

One important note, this change means that the 12-13 and 14-18 coaches might need additional help, as they are spread a little more thin.  Parents, please be aware and offer to help out if the coaches need some support.  And please contact your coach if you could be a fill-in if the coach can't be there for a game.

LOST and FOUND: You may have noticed that we have a lost and found bin that is next to the bathrooms at each practice and game. If you are the last on one of the fields, please do a quick scan for things left behind and put them in the box.  If the box is gone, please take the items home and put them in the lost and found bin at the next practice.  Thank you!

Important Dates:
Sept 14th 9am-11am regular practice
Sept 19th 5:45pm Line Judge Training (during practice) - Meet Jennifer at the table near the bathrooms
Sept 21st FIRST GAME!

Our game schedule is posted on the website under the GAME SCHEDULE tab.  Here's a link: Goals Soccer : Game Schedule (molallahomeschoolsoccer.blogspot.com)  The coaches are still working on dividing each age group into fair teams.  Final team rosters will be available next week!

Practice Tomorrow

Practice is still on for tomorrow, 5:30-7:30.  It's going to be very hot! If it's too hot for your family, feel free to come late or leave early. Leadership will be ready to get players registered and hand out jerseys.  Players can meet their coaches and teammates and find out which field they will be playing on.  Some soccer playing will happen if coaches think it's wise.

As a reminder, bring cleats, shin guards, soccer ball and plenty of water.

We will have registration again on Saturday for those that are not able to make it tomorrow.

We are looking forward to seeing as many of you as can make it tomorrow!
