Cool Winter Highlights

Picture_2_1 Yukon Quest is under way now! It's one of the country's toughest sled-dog races. This year's start took place in Whitehorse, Canada and the finish line is in Fairbanks, Alaska ... more than 1000 miles away!

Picture_3 Next up on the calendar the first weekend in March will be the start to probably the most famous sled-dog race, The Iditarod.

Picture_4 Another very nice winter event is taking place in Fairbanks, the World Ice Art Championship. The Northern Lights that can be often seen during that time of the year are another good reason to visit Alaska during that time (and there are no mosquitos either!!)

Fishing Holes

Personally, I'm not a die-hard fishermen, but a lot of people always ask when is the best time to fish and in what river. Since fishing season's coming soon (we hope!) I thought it'd be nice to share this link from Fish & Game Alaska.Picture_5

And if you decide to go, email me. I know the perfect Lodge where you can have a fine view of the river or lake, then enjoy a glass of wine with your fresh-caught fish at supper time!

Welcome!

Felix_1Welcome to my blog! My name is Felix Schneider and I love Alaska. I also love creating personalized adventures for others to get to know Alaska on their own terms.

My blog will feature all the new, interesting and often hidden corners of Alaska – "the inside circle" as I call it.

My website will give you more specific information on how we can work together to create the journey of a lifetime on your next visit to Alaska.

Email me or call me at any time at (907) 346-1414.

I'd love to hear what you think about my blog. And I'd love to share more of the inside Alaska my family calls home.

Sights That Sometimes Go Unseen

We've all seen those magnificent, breathtaking photos of Alaksa ... the mountains, the wide open spaces, spouting whales in the ocean. They're all beautiful, that's for sure. (And I have a lot of them on my Flickr site for you to see.) But I've also come to love the quiet intimacy of Alaska.

BabybearThe bears knocking at my front door.

BabymooseA baby moose wandering through my backyard.

Picture_140The brilliant colors of flowers flourishing on the tundra.

For me, the grandeur of Alaska is made up of the majestic and the small miracles of life.
