Sometimes there are Perks in Doing Laundry!

Finding change in the washer can sometimes be one of the perks of doing laundry! The other day as I was finishing up with the washer, I found this surprise in there. :)

Not Just Any Accessory

My photography assignment/challenge today was to take a photo of an accessory. Breann gave me the idea to take a photo of her ring, and I thought it was a great idea. This ring, though, is not just any accessory. It was in my Mom's jewelry box. Bre wears it a lot, and it's become something very special to her.

So Ready...

For warmer weather, so I can walk the track at the gym again...I may have to start using the treadmill some until then!

How Times Change...

We have went from record players to cassette tapes, from cassette tapes to CDs, from paperback books to eReaders, and the list goes on. It's interesting, and (sometimes) at the same time sad, how the world has become so fast paced, and how a lot of the world now depends on technology for a lot of what is done.

I remember there was a time when we used to have handwritten letters...there was pretty stationery and pencils and envelopes and stamps. Receiving a letter in the mail used to take days, now it may only take seconds if you send it via e-mail. There is still the handwritten letters that some have, but not as much as the e-mails, or now, even text messages, it seems.

While a phone call used to be made to talk to someone, a lot of times text messages are sent and received rather than having an actual conversation. My husband said it great just the other day! He said, "in a world where there is all of this social media, a lot of the world is becoming less social."  It's sad, but true.

We strive for our family not to be this way. While we enjoy the electronics, and some electronics and some of the changes in the world are not a bad thing, we still try to limit the time we spend on our devices. Family time and time with friends is usually far more important than "liking" someone's status. Actually liking someone's conversation, what they have to say, actually hearing and listening to what they have to say about what is going on in their life is, a lot of the time, so much more important than scrolling through our social media feed(s). While social media can be fun and a great way to keep up with friends and family we don't get to see or hear from that often, we have to still make certain that we actually communicate in a world that sometimes has a lot of the people forgetting the real meaning of communication.  It's easy to get hidden behind the device, and it's easy to forget to communicate with those who matter the most.  Time is a gift we don't get back.  Once a season in life is gone, well, it's gone...we have to make sure we are making lasting memories!
