Troy Zoning Board of Appeals - May 2017 Meeting Recap

City staff has posted the video recording of the 5/16/17 Troy Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) meeting to YouTube. At the bottom of this post is the video. (The meeting actually starts shortly before the one minute mark of the video.)

Click here to download the entire Agenda Packet from the May 16th meeting.

There were two items on the agenda:

  • A variance for 3755 Euclid (to construct an addition to the house). The ZBA voted to approve the variance. I voted yes on the motion to approve the variance.

  • A variance for 71 Birchwood (to create two parcels). The ZBA voted to postpone action on this item to our next meeting.
We also had an excellent presentation by Troy City Attorney Lori Bluhm and Assistant City Attorney Allan Motzny on the laws that apply to ZBAs in Michigan.

Finally, congratulations to Glenn Clark and David Eisenbacher who were re-elected as ZBA Chair and ZBA Vice Chair respectively.

2017 Troy Foundation For Educational Excellence Grant Reception

As a Trustee for the Troy Foundation For Educational Excellence (TFEE), I look forward to attending our annual reception which recognizes the recipients of our grants. Below I've posted some photos I took at last week's reception.

At the reception, we also recognize a school grant applicant as TFEE Innovator of the Year. Below I've embedded a Troy School District video that recognizes the 2017 honoree, Emily Freeman and Connected Classrooms, Engaged Learners.

Peggy Grande's New Book on President Reagan

Thank you to the Troy Public Library for hosting Peggy Grande at their "An Evening with the Author" series on March 27. Grande, President Ronald Reagan’s executive assistant from 1989–1999, spoke on her new book The President Will See You Now: My Stories and Lessons from Ronald Reagan’s Final Years. Mary Ellyn and I appreciated the opportunity to hear Peggy's speech and also to purchase a copy of her book. Click here for more information on Peggy and her book.

Troy City staff has also posted her presentation on YouTube which you can view below.
