National Trails Day in Hurley, NY, June 7, 2008
National Trails Day on the Hurley TrailJune 7th is National Trails Day. The Hurley Rail Trail Committee has invited local clubs and non-profits to highlight healthy lifestyles, nature, local heritage, or other trail-related interests in an information booth or provide instructions or demonstrations for the public along the trail from 10 am to 2 pm.
The Hurley Rail Trail which parallels Route 209 and connects with the Stone Ridge trail, is part of the D&H Heritage Corridor along the former O&W Railroad. Current Trail Day activities include a family scavenger hunt, an opportunity to talk with berm-tenders about the plants on their berms, exhibits from the Forsyth Zoo, John Burroughs Society, and other groups.
Meet the folks who keep the berms neat! The first 50 trail users will be given a collectible Hurley Trail Mixer button!
