Wonderful World

 Happy July!

July 4th has been one of my favorite holidays for a long time. Now that we have a second Saleabration in July, I love July even more!

Today I'm going to show you a sweet card using the Wonderful World stamp set and coordinating DSP. You can earn both of these FREE with a $100 order during July!

Check out this video to see the tutorial on the trifold card pictured here.

Wonderful World Trifold card

Supplies:

  • Wonderful world stamp set + DSP (159918) FREE!
  • Charming Sentiments bundle (158734)
  • Basic White cardstock (159276)
  • Watercolor paper (149612)
  • Stampin Write markers Bold Brights (147157)
  • Momento black pad (132708)
  • Stampin Spritzer (126185)
  • Tear and Tape (154031)
  • Stitched Rectangle dies (151820)
  • Paper Trimmer (152392)
  • Iridescent Pearl Basic jewels (158987)
  • Stamparatus (146276)
  • Take your pick tool (144107)
  • Paper snips (103579)

For the second card, I really wanted to just highlight the beautiful details in the stamp. I kept it monochromatic (one color) but ended up adding a few Glossy dots in pink to add some pizzaz. I also brushed a bit of Wink of Stella over the flowers for a bit of shimmer. The black DSP is from the limited here together set, but the Perfectly Penciled DSP would work just as good.

Wonderful World Monochromatic Card

Supplies:

  • Charming Sentiments bundle (158734)
  • Basic White cardstock (159276)
  • Momento black pad (132708)
  • Stitched Rectangle dies (151820)
  • Paper Trimmer (152392)
  • Stamparatus (146276)
  • Take your pick tool (144107)
  • Paper snips (103579)
  • Glossy Dots Assortment (158827)
  • Perfectly penciled DSP (159244)

Here is one more card I made after the video. I used the DSP in strips across the front of the card. You are seeing both sides of the DSP here, just alternated. I colored on the stamp like I did for the watercolor card, but I didn't spritz it. You can really see the awesome detail on here.  I punched out the rose and a sentiment from the Charming sentiments set and layered them on the front. I love all the colors and patterns on here. This card has the same supplies as the last with just some ribbon and silver thread added.

This set is very versatile and the paper is beautiful! I'd love to help you get your hands on these products! Please email me at ladystamper@gmail.com or visit my website at www.beckiecarlson.stampinup.com

Happy Stamping!

Sweetest Cherries

I was playing around with the Sweetest Cherries set last night. I created two cards that I thought were pretty cute! I went to clear up my creative mess and realized I accidentally laid one of them in my Sweet Sorbet stamp pad! Have you ever done that?

Well, I believe you can fix almost anything in crafting! Here is what I did.

Here is my first card. See that nasty red line on the upper right-hand corner? Bummer! I tried a few things to remove it, but it just made it darker. I decided to go to my trimmer.

I ended up cutting off about 3/4 inches from all three sides of the card. I did the same for the inside since I had already stamped a sentiment in there.

Here is my 'new' card. I actually like it better now! I ended up using dimensionals to pop up the front panel. I sponged the edges of the inside sentiment and put it all together.

What have you done to save a card or project after making a mistake? I'd love to see your creativity!

Here is a second card I made using the same set. This one has a cool window on the front with a sentiment hidden behind it. I was inspired by Jennifer McGuire for this one. I also added some texture with an embossing folder to the front panel after stamping it. You can see what I mean in the short little video below. All supplies are listed at the end. I am loving this cute set!

Shutter window card

 Hello and welcome!

Today's card features a fun fold that looks a bit like the shutter on a camera. There is a bit of math involved, but it is totally worth it! Check out the video for a demonstration of how to put the card together. The measurements and supplies are listed below. You can purchase supplies through my website here: www.beckiecarlson.stampinup.net

I'd love to see what you make!

By My Side - shutter window card - fun fold!

Finished Size: 5 1/2"  x 4 1/4"

Supplies: ( All from Stampin' Up! )
  • Basic Black cardstock (121045)
  • DSP I used a retired packet. A close choice would be Hues of Happiness (158822). Perfectly Penciled (159244) would also look amazing, but any DSP works! Just base it off your card base.
  • 2" circle punch or Layering Circle dies (151770)
  • Word set - I used Sunny Splash (158784)  and Charming sentiments (159985)
  • By My Side stamp set (159006)
  • Basic White cardstock (159276)
  • Stampin Blends in desired colors

Cutting guide:

Basic Black cardstock
  • basic black card base 5 1/2 x 11
  • inside 'shutters'  3 1/2 x 3 1/2
  • Belly band 2 1/4 x 11
  • Inside panel 3 x 5 1/4
DSP
  • 2 ea - 1 7/8 x 5 1/4 (outside panels)
  • 2 ea - 1 7/8 x 5 1/4 (inside panels)
  • 2 3/4 x 5  (inside layer)
  • 4 1/4 x 2 1/2 (front of belly band)
White cardstock
  • 1 3/4 x 4 1/4 (top front of belly band)
  • scrap paper to cut your image out of
  • 4 x 3 1/4 (behind the shutters)
  • Create the template for the shutters by drawing a line from the top left corner to the right side of the square, 1/2 inch from the bottom. Draw an intersecting line from the bottom left corner to 1/2 in from the top right corner. Cut out that triangle and use this to make your shutter flaps

Prized Peony

Yes, I'm sharing more flowers. What can I say? Flowers are good for almost every occasion! They are a great investment. The stamps I am highlighting today are the Prized Peony set (#152504) and coordinating dies (#152701).

I made several samples with the set using the different elements. At the end of this post, I have included a video of how to stack the dies to make the beautiful 3D Peony.
This first example uses a card base made from the InColor Fresh freesia, embossed with the Checks embossing folder from the Checks and Dots set (#155432). These little half folders are perfect for highlighting just part of your card. I layered white cardstock on the left and a strip of Bumblebee cardstock down the center. The tiny little strip of gold is from a gold Wink of Stella I had lying about.
I stamped the Peony with my Tuxedo Black Memento ink pad (#132708) and colored it with the blends in Highland heather (#154887) and Light Granny apply Green (#154885) blended with light Old olive (#154892). The greeting is from the Beautiful Moments stamp set (#151677) and is also stamped with the Tuxedo black. I just hand-cut around the words so they wouldn't overpower the rest of the card. I added a few drops of bling from the Genial gems set (#155500) and called it good. I really like how it turned out.

The next sample uses the same colors on the Peony, but I layered it on a different green background. This green is the Mint Macaron (#138337) and it has a more blue tint to it. I simply colored over my green with the Light Mint Macaron blend and it gave it that blueish look so it coordinated with the background. Also in the background, I stamped the large peony image with Versamark randomly over the front of the card to give a bit of texture. I also used Versamark (# 102283) to rub the edges of the card. This just makes the color of the cardstock a bit darker, it doesn't actually add any color. I layered my sentiment from the Ridiculously Awesome set(retired sadly) on a leftover piece of DSP from the True love set and put it all on a piece of Black cardstock. I also added some bling here and there with the In Color jewels (#155571)

This next sample uses the full flower image from the set. I colored it with the blends and really like how it turned out! The colors I used were the Light and Dark Flirty Flamingo (#154884) and the Granny green and Old olive combo from above. I added a bit of wink of Stella (#141897) to the petals and leaves here and there. I just love how it gives it a little shimmer. The sentiment is from the Simple Succulents set (#154480). I added some bling using the Genial Gems ($155500). The DSP is again from the True Love package. The card base is made from Blushing Bride cardstock (#131198).

This last sample was my favorite. When I first got this set, I was confused about how to put this big flower together. After playing around with it, I discovered that Stampin' Up! gave us a guide along the bottom! All the layers line up perfectly. I decided to make a video to show how this works. I hope you enjoy it!

As always, I would love to have your business! As a single mom, I love the flexibility of doing Stampin' Up! to supplement my teacher income. If you have questions, please email me! If you'd like to order, please visit my website here.https://beckiecarlson.stampinup.net/

Simply succulent bundle....with sparkle!

This is one of the sets I didn't think I needed till recently. What really sold me on it was the large background die that came with the bundle. I am totally in love with it! Today I am sharing a few cards that focus on that background die.

These first two are super easy but totally gorgeous! I used the Rainbow Glimmer Paper (#153056) with the background die cut out in Thick White Cardstock (#159229) for the first one and Basic black cardstock (#121045) for the second one. I used a sponge on a binder clip dipped in multipurpose liquid glue to glue it all together. The saying is from the Simple Succulent set that comes in the Potted Succulent bundle (#154330).

The next card was actually really fun to do. I cut out TWO of the backgrounds in white cardstock. I glued one down to a piece of cardstock (4-1/2 x 5-1/2). Using the die as my guide, I colored in the succulents using the blender markers. It looked kind of messy! After I was done coloring, I glued another background over the first. That covered up all my mistakes on the first one and really made it pop!

This last one was the hardest one, but the most beautiful! I have a tutorial at the end to show how I did it. It is really stunning in person! I think I like the white outline the best.

I'd love to see what you come up with using this technique! I'd be happy to help you order any Stampin' Up! products you see here (glitter is retired! Sorry!) The supplies are listed below as well as a link to my online store.

Happy Stampin!
