Impressions Dies Card Ideas

Todays cards also include vellum, designer paper, embossing folders, mix & match ephemera, and a yummy selection of 2026-2028 In Color products from Stampin’ Up!.

Above: I used the Opulent Oasis Impressions die as a background die cut in Garden Green and layered some flowers from the Boutique Blossoms dies on top. The background is a piece of Moonlit Flora designer paper. Did you notice my use of the new White Gel Pen on almost all of these cards today?

Below: This was unplanned, but this piece of Peaceful Pine In Color Painted Patterns DSP was on my crafting table and I thought it was a fun and different background to pair with my die cut flowers.

A handmade card features layered peach and green paper flowers, green leaves, and a sheer peach ribbon on a striped green and white background. A white label with "Hooray!" in blue is on the right. The card is signed “Patty Bennett pattystamps.com.”. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

As I was creating the card above, I decided to die cut the Opulent Oasis flower image twice and use both impressions dies. Once from Shaded Spruce and once from Crisp Cantaloupe, then trim the Cantaloupe die cut and layer them with some stamped and die cut leaves (also from Opulent Oasis bundle).

After die cutting the Cantaloupe floral die cut piece, I swirled some matching ink with my blending brush AND added some detailed shading with my Cantaloupe Stampin’ Blend marker, THEN finished with some white dots with my gel pen.

A crafting workspace shows die-cut peach flowers, green leaves, patterned paper, a blending brush, markers, and a white gel pen on a grid mat. A black floral die set and a card with leafy peach floral embellishments are featured. “Patty Bennett” is watermarked. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)
A craft table displays layered die-cut flowers and leaves in peach and green cardstock, patterned paper, scissors, clear stamps, and a grid work surface. The pieces are arranged for card making, with tools and supplies visible around the workspace. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

Die cutting and embossing these dies is a 2 step process. Instructions for using the Impressions Dies & Plate are in the packaging of the Impressions Plate, and I also took this photo at the Stampin’ Up! OnStage event in Long Beach:

A step-by-step guide for card making shows how to use Impressions Dies with a die-cutting machine, including photos: misting cardstock, layering plates, rolling through the machine, repeating steps, and admiring your pattystamps creation. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

I guess I was enjoying this color combo of green and peach.. so I kept going with more card ideas.

Handmade greeting card and matching embellishments feature coral and green die-cut floral and leaf shapes. The card has a green leafy border, polka dot panel, coral flower, die-cut leaves, a silver bow, and a blue banner with “Just a note…” text. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

Be sure to watch the video below to see how I used the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine with the new Impressions Plate to create these gorgeous die cut images.

A handmade card with a yellow embossed floral die cut, green borders, a "Thanks!" tag, ribbon, and pearls sits on a floral-embossed vellum background. Nearby are clear embossing folders labeled “Fern & Flora,” showing their leafy textured patterns. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

You may have also noticed the gorgeous embossed vellum layer (with the Fern & Flora embossing folder) and the lovely Peaceful Pine Phrases & Frames frame above!! so lovely!

The Floral Spray embossing folder is also gorgeous in vellum, too!

A handmade greeting card with a peach floral design and “FOR AN AMAZING FRIEND” on a peach banner is shown next to a clear “Floral Spray” 3D embossing folder and a peach cardstock flower. Text and PattyStamps.com watermark are also visible. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

If you do not want to actually die cut the floral image out, you’ll want to use a different sandwich in your machine.. this is an option that was shared with me at OnStage and it’s a fun option for just showcasing the image in a cardfront panel:

Two peach-colored embossed cards with a large floral design are shown. One card has a “happy birthday” banner with gems. A silver floral metal die lies beside them; a black case is in the background. Text reads: “Opulent Oasis bundle floral die, not die cut.”. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)

Here is the sandwich I used for this alternate idea. I don’t know if it was meant to be used like this, but it was a fun discovery.

Diagram showing a stack for die cutting: base plate platform, plate 2, impressions plate, impressions plate 4, then cardstock with cutting side down. Example image shows an embossed floral design. Text gives a tip for not cutting the outline image with the die. To read more, visit Patty Stamps (pattystamps.com)
