Acrylic 6x6” on a panel
Framed in a Verona mottled gold 1 1/4” with a 2” white linen matt If you are an artist looking to frame your paintings, the search is sometimes fruitful and sometimes it is frustrating. Even if you’re a customer wanting one frame sometimes it’s hard to find the perfect one in your price range. I have ordered six of these frames to fit 6 x 6“ panels and I am very pleased with how they look. I want to share my source in case you need a frame. I ordered from Franken Frames. www.frankenframes.com. Instead of going to the website and trying to order with my small knowledge of what frames pair with which linen liner, I picked out one that I thought would look right then I emailed and asked to give me a quote before I proceeded to order. (Info@frankenframes.com) It worked out very well in this situation. Do you have a favorite place to buy frames? If you do I would love to know in the comments This painting is available at https://www.dailypaintworks.com/fineart/nancy-standlee/hydrangea-in-the-mix-22025/1021926 Thanks for sharing my blog and thanks to a reader who purchased my first post, Out of the Blue”

” “ Out of the Blue” 22015, 8x8” 1 1/2” gallery wrapped canvas, acrylic
It looks like the title of this painting is a good title for the blog post as I have been absent from posting for months, years? In fact it looks like the last post was in November 2015. There are several reasons, maybe I’ll mention them later but today the sun is shining and I am back with new work to share. I’ve started posting again on Daily Paintworks, Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest. I don’t know if I have any readers left but I will continue for a few posts and check out the water. This blog will continue to be about art adventures, workshops and tips but the change is the workshops will be closer to home with not so much traveling as in October I’ll celebrate my 87th birthday. That’s all for now and I hope to hear from you if you have read this. Thank you Nancy
LBJ Sheep 15020
8x10 Oil
I took a plein air oil workshop with Guido Frick in Fredericksburg TX November 9-13 to really stretch myself as I don't paint plein air. This landscape was painted on Friday at the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm on the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park in Stonewall. I tried putting in two sheep but they really looked like a cross between a pig and a dog so when I got home I took one of my photos and printed it so I could more closely study how a sheep really looks and besides they just didn't want to stand still. This one was very friendly with Guido. I would recommend Guido's workshop if you are interested in impressionist oils. He will teach in the U.S. in 2016. He's also on Facebook if you'd like to follow his current treks and paintings.

Traveling with wet paintings
This really works. I'd heard about it before but this time after Guido discussed it more thoroughly I gave it a try and it's an easy way to travel in a car with wet oil paintings. Place push pins in the corners and secure with Duct tape. Different sizes can be used if they have a common edge size. Place painted sides together.
You are invited Friday evening 6:30-8:30 Nov. 20 for the reception for the unveiling of the stars painted for the city of Arlington. http://arlingtonmuseum.org/
