What do pigs and coffee have in common?

Question:  What do pigs and coffee have in common?  ABSOLUTELY Nothing, LOL, but when you combine two stamp sets, you can make a totally adorable card with them.  In today’s post, I’ll show you how.

what do pigs and coffee have in common? Coffee Cafe stampin up, this little piggy stampin up, freshly made sketches, sandi maciver, stampin with sandi, Canadian Stampin Up Demonstrator, Stampin Up Canada, stampin up card ideas,

Now I have an adorable little piggy guzzling coffee, haha…it creates a light and playful card and the sentiment fits perfectly.

what do pigs and coffee have in common? Coffee Cafe stampin up, this little piggy stampin up, freshly made sketches, sandi maciver, stampin with sandi, Canadian Stampin Up Demonstrator, Stampin Up Canada, stampin up card ideas,

I combined This Little Piggy and Coffee Cafe stamp sets from Stampin Up.  Then I went searching for a light and fun combo of designer papers and “Whole Lot of Lovely” did it for me.  I duplicated the dots in the designer paper by embossing my Whisper White background with the Polka Dot Basic Embossing Folder.

I love making coordinating envelopes – just put Snail Adhesive around the outside of the flap, add a piece of designer paper and then open the envelope and trim from the inside.  Now the recipient gets a little sneak peek of what’s inside.

Sandi’s Tips, Tricks and Cutting instructions:

For the What do Pigs and Coffee Have in Common Card:

  • I used Archival Basic Black Ink to stamp the piggy on a 2 x 2-1/2″ piece of Powder Pink.  I cut her out and sponged the edges with Powder Pink Ink.

Coffee Cafe Stampin Up, Coffee Cups Framelits cuts out the coordinating Designer paper from Stampin Up, stampin with sandi, sandi maciver, Canadian Stampin Up Demonstrator

  • For her coffee cup, there is an adorable little die in the Coffee Cups Framelits set that cuts out the coffee cup in the coordinating Coffee Break Designer Paper.  You can view all of these products on page 31 of the annual catalogue.
  • Next I embossed a piece of Whisper White 3-7/8 x 5-1/8 then matted it to Powder Pink 4 x 5-1/4 and then to the Basic Black card base 4-1/4 x 11, score and fold at 5-1/2
  • The Designer Paper is cut at:  1-1/4 x 3-1/4 for the blue flowers and 1-1/2 x 4-1/4 for the pink dots.  The mats are both Basic black, 1-3/8 x 3-3/8 and 1-5/8 x 4-3/8
  • I stamped the sentiment in Archival Black onto a 2 x 2 piece of Whisper White before die cutting it with the coordinating die.
  • Finally, My one and only embellishment (I figured there was enough going on already, haha), is that adorable little bow found on page 197 of the Stampin Up annual catalogue, 20 bows in the pack, 4 each of the five new 2017 – 2019 In Colors….is it perfect or what!

Stampin Up Background Bits

Hi stamping friends, my share today is created with the beautifully artistic Stampin Up Background Bits stamp set.  It’s my 10 Minute or less card for this week which I know I usually post at the beginning of the week, but life got in the way!  That happens right?

You will find the Stampin Up Background Bits stamp set on page 220 of the Stampin Up Annual Catalogue and it’s a Host Set, meaning you can only earn it with a $200. or higher order and Stampin Rewards.  See page 219 for details on that program.

Or you could win it in my Corgi Club Special Draw – details below

Stampin Up Background Bits, stampin with sandi, sandi maciver, card making blog, paper crafting blog, Stampin Up Card Ideas, 10 minutes or less cards, simple Stampin Up cards, Canadian Stampin Up Demonstrator Blog, Stampin Up Canada

There are 8 rubber stamps in this set, available in wood or clear mount and I love the artistic value of each of these stamps.

  • I used the “direct to Rubber” technique with Calypso Coral and Crumb Cake Stampin Write Markers to color my main image and stamp it down.
  • Then, the word stamp is “first generation” stamping in the background (stamping off – to us stampers who have been around awhile), LOL.
  • The border is stamped in Crumb Cake, full on, as is the sentiment.
  • The art piece is Very Vanilla 3-3/4 x 5, and before I attached it to the card base, I wrapped the Calypso Coral 1/8″ Sheer ribbon around it, over the border and added a simple bow.
  • I then used Dimensionals to attach it to the card base which is 4-1/4 x 11, scored and folded at 5-1/2

I love the simplicity of this card and how the colours just pop.  if you wanted a bit more dimension, you could stamp the flowers again, fussy cut them out and attach them with mini Dimensionals.

If you live in Canada and you subscribe to my Newsletter – you will know that this is the stamp set for my Corgi Club Special Draw – sign up today so you don’t miss any of my ongoing specials. (purchase required to enter).

Coffee Cafe it ain’t just for coffee

Hi stamping friends Coffee Cafe it ain’t just for Coffee you know!  It’s our challenge for this month at Stamp to Share so let’s have some fun with it.  I have a couple of “perky” cards to share with you today, but you may need your shades haha!  (sunglasses).

I love this bundle, it’s the very first one I ordered when the new catalogue went live and I have had a blast making cards with it…..and the coordinating Coffee Break Designer paper.  You can find the entire suite on pages 30 and 31.

But, it’s warm out, and while I still drink coffee in the morning (you don’t want to be around if I don’t, haha), the rest of the day, it’s smoothies for us….

SO I decided to change it up a bit and create these bright and fun cards:

Sandi’s Tips and Tricks for the Coffee Cafe It Ain’t Just for Coffee cards:

If you use the Glossy White card stock that has recently returned to the catalogue, sponging color on it gives a beautiful silky finish which really resembles a frosty glass don’t you think.

Colours used:  Flirty Flamingo with Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist with Bermuda Bay and Daffodil Delight with Pumpkin Pie.  and check out the card on the right – I used the Lemon Zest stamp set to add some fruit slices to my smoothies.

Coffee Cafe, Stampin Up, stampin with sandi, Canadian Stampin Up Demonstrator, Coffee cards, smoothie cards, stampin up card ideas. Coffee Cafe Bundle from Stampin Up

Card#1

  • For the background, I started by heat embossing the sentiments on a piece of Glossy White card stock.  I sponged in Lemon Lime Twist with a bit of Bermuda Bay around the edges for the Embossed Resist technique, so the words would pop.
  • I stamped and sponged the cups and then die cut them.
  • For the lids, I stamped the lid on vellum, heat embossing it in White.  Then stamped the swirl over that, heat embossing it again in White.

TIP – Heat up your heat tool before you heat emboss the vellum, it will take half the time and less change of burning it.

  • I added a strip of the Pick a Pattern Washi Tape to the background before attaching the cups.

Card #2.

  • I knew I was doing three different colours of Smoothies, so I decided to have a plain Crumb Cake Background to really make them pop.
  • The sentiment is white embossed on black and chopped up.

I LOVE the coordinating Coffee Cup Framelits, they make it so easy to create these fun embellishments for my cards and ordering the stamps/dies as a combo will save you 10%

Hogs and Kisses

Hi stamping friends, I have a fun share for you today – Hogs and Kisses created with the New This Little Piggy stamp set from Stampin Up.

Hogs and Kisses Pig Card, this little piggy stampin up stamp set, stamp in, stampin with sandi, sandi maciver, card making blog, stampin up card ideas, canadian stampin up demonstrator, stampin up canada

I decided to have a little fun with the saying at the bottom of one of the stamps “HOGS and KISSES”, LOL…I used the  Large Letters Framelits to die cut the two X’s I needed

The circle is the second from largest Stitched Framelits, matted with a scallop circle die from Layering Circles Framelits.

Stamp the Pig stamp once on the stitched circle and once again on a piece of Powder Pink,  then cut out and sponged with Powder Pink ink.  You can carefully cut out the sentiment from the bottom of that stamp as well and flag tail each end before sponging it.

This Little Piggy, Stampin with Sandi, Sandi MacIver, Stampin Up, Hogs and Kisses, stampin Up Card ideas, earn a free online class with your order

I have cut this sentiment away from the pig image so that I can use either by itself, or together.  This enabled me to repeatedly stamp the pig in Smoky Slate for  a bit of a retro feel to the background.

The art piece is then matted in basic Black and attached to the Powder Pink Card base:
