Springtime Impressions Inlaid Die Cutting

Canadian Stampin Up Demonstrator Sandi MacIver – Springtime Impressions Inlaid Die Cutting

It’s Thursday and that means another Happy Stampers Blog Hop  whoo hoo!

Happy Stampers Blog Hop Button stampinwithsandi.com

It’s colour challenge week and I am SO EXITED to finally be able to create something with the NEW Springtime Impressions Thinlets coming in the new catalogue.

Happy Stampers Colour Challenge #2 from Stampin with Sandi.com

These new dies cut like butter. I cut my design out of watercolor paper so that I could add my colour, and then inlay it back into the original piece.

Springtime Impressions inlaid die cutting by Sandi @ stampinwithsandi.com

Sandi’s Tips & Tricks for the Springtime Impressions Inlaid Die Cutting Card:

  • I started with a 4-1/2 x 6-1/2 piece of watercolor paper and die cut the flowers and leaves on the left.
  • I pulled out the die cut  and water coloured it with the reinkers and aqua pen.
  • For the background, I water coloured it in Smoky Slate before Black Embossing (yes – black embossing powder is returning – YEAH), the sentiment at the top.  The sentiment is from another new set, Rooted in Nature.
  • I used my heat tool to dry everything and then attached the background piece to a piece of Whisper White before gluing the water colored die cut piece back in.
  • This is matted to a piece of Basic Black 4-5/8 x 6-5/8 and then attached to the Thick Whisper White  card base 7 x 10, scored and folded at 5
  • I cut the butterfly out of watercolor paper and added darker Berry Burst ink to him and a top coat of Wink of Stella before attaching him with glue dots.
  • I embellished the background and flower centers with the Share What You Love Artisan Pearls.
  • The finished card is 5 x 7 inches.

Balmy Blue Bike Ride

Canadian Stampin Up Demonstrator Sandi MacIver – Balmy Blue Bike Ride

Hi stamping friends, today I have a Balmy Blue Bike Ride share for you.  This lovely Balmy Blue is one of the NEW colours coming in the Annual Catalogue June 1st and I combined it with this adorable card I also cased from the catalogue using the Bike Ride Bundle.

Balmy Blue Bike Ride by Sandi @ stampinwithsandi.com

Sandi’s Tips and Tricks for the Balmy Blue Bike Ride card:

Balmy blue, lemon lime twist, lovely lipstick Colour Inspiration from Stampinwithsandi.com

Here is my colour inspiration for today’s card:

  • Score and fold at 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 piece of Balmy Blue card stock at 4-1/4
  • Emboss a piece of 4 x 4-1/4 Vellum card stock with the Polka Dots Basics Embossing Folder and attach to the card front with glue dots – strategically placed where you will be covering it with something else.  I put mine under my washi tape, the books and the banner.
  • Stamp and die cut all the bike pieces using Balmy Blue and Memento Black Ink.
  • Use glue dots to attach all the bike pieces together.
  • Attach the Pick a Pattern Washi Tape along the bottom before attaching the bike
  • Add the bookrack on the back with small drops of Multipurpose Glue before attaching the books with glue dots.
  • Cut the banner piece 1-5/8 x 2-1/2, flag tail the bottom with the Banner Triple Punch before stamping the sentiment from Petal Palette in black.
  • Wrap White Solid Baker’s Twine around the banner before attaching it to the card base with Glue Dots.
  • Attach a bow with a drop of the Multipurpose Glue and then attach the little Lemon Lime Twist die cut Butterfly with a glue dot.
  • The PDF File for todays card will be in this Sunday’s FREE PDF post.
  • Balmy Blue Bike Ride by Sandi @ stampinwithsandi.com

Something I really like about the Bike Ride Bundle is how you can personalize your card with the stamps and dies:

Change out the books for the little puppy, or how about a basket filled with flowers or apples.  You can also use the pieces individually without the bike for a completely different look.

The Bundle is currently on page 20 of the Annual Catalogue  saving you 10%.  It is moving through to the new catalogue however, it will be unbundled, so you will have to order them separately.  Order the Bundle now: #143716

Petal Palette Stampin Up

Canadian Stampin Up Demonstrator Sandi MacIver – Petal Palette Stampin Up

Hi stamping friends and welcome back.  I have a Petal Palette Stampin Up card for you today along with something super fun.  A combined Blog Hop

As some of you know I used to be a Demonstrator in the USA when Ian and I lived in Portland and Amy Koenders and some of her team where part of my group.  Amy and I were chatting about team blog hops, and we thought it would be fun to combine our hops once a month.  So much fun to be stamping and hopping with these ladies again and I know you are going to love all the projects shared.

Petal Palette Stampin Up card by Sandi @ stampinwithsandi.com

We had a choice of either a sketch challenge or a colour challenge for our projects this week,  I chose the sketch:

I decided on the Petal Palette Bundle from the Occasions Catalogue for my artwork, because I adore it, but also to remind you that while it is travelling through to the new catalogue, it won’t be bundled, so if you are in love with it, order it before the end of May to receive the 10% discount on the bundle.

Sandi’s Tips & Tricks for the Petal Palette Stampin Up Card:

  • I started by embossing my 3-3/4 x 5 – Bermuda Bay card front with the Layering Leaves Embossing Folder before attaching it to my Thick Whisper White 5-1/2  x 8-1/2 card base.
  • I stamped the rose image twice on Watercolor Paper and used my Aqua Painter and ink pads to colour in Lovely Lipstick (NEW), Lemon Lime Twist and Old Olive.
  • I cut the images out with the coordinating Dies.
  • I also cut out the white floral images that are tucked under the watercolor flowers from a piece of Whisper White 2-1/2 x 5, the gold border from a 1-1/2 x 4 piece of the gold foil sheet and the sentiment from a piece of 1 x 3-1/4 Powder Pink.
  • I looped some Gold metallic Thread and attached it with a glue dot in the card center before adding the gold border with multipurpose glue.
  • I attached the white die cuts with multipurpose glue before attaching the art work with Dimensionals.
  • Lastly, the sentiment is attached with Dimensionals.
  • I added a bow created with the Whisper White 1/8″ Sheer Ribbon and some basic pearls.

SPEAKING OF PEARLS:  When you get your new catalogue, the basic pearls and rhinestones are extremely well hidden.  page 197, bottom left corner, under the picture of the Red Rhinestones – I completely missed them, and I was looking for them, so thought I would share that.
