Plus, the best part about this pop-up technique is how versatile it is — swap out the inside scene for a birthday cake, a bouquet of flowers, or anything you like to make it your own for any occasion.

The beauty of this, “The Spotlight Technique,” is that you are actually creating two cards at the same time!

I started with one piece of cardstock and one piece of Designer Series Paper, all cut to the same size. I prefer to cut both pieces at the same time so they will be a perfect fit for both cards. I find it easier to emboss after I cut. To cut diagonally, make a mark at 1 ½” at the bottom; see video.
