Craftiness in the Kitchen

Craftiness in the Kitchen

If it’s one thing I’m not good at, craftiness in the kitchen! While I love to bake, I don’t do it often.  Honestly, I feel lately I don’t even cook often.  Having teenagers in the house we seem to spend more time on the road than in our home.  I’m quite sure our dinner options would make a clean eater go crazy.

Somethings in life you have to embrace.  Not cooking is an easy one for me to embrace.

Crafting with The Perfect Mix

While I may not be baking and cooking, I did mix up a fun card using the Perfect Mix stamp set.

I was totally drawn to this card because of the images and fonts.  The images have that retro fun appeal.

Tips & Tricks

Craftiness in the Kitchen, Perfect Mix, Stampin' Up!

I wanted the baking images to stand out really and what better way than to emboss.

Each of the baking images was stamped on cardstock, embossed with White Emboss Powder and then fussy cut.  Fussy cutting these images is not difficult and only takes a few minutes.

Craftiness in the Kitchen, Perfect Mix, Stampin' Up!

One of my long time favorite stamping techniques is using VersaMark to create a background.  Not sure you would even call it a technique, however, the fun watermark the VersaMark leaves on cardstock always amazes me. I created a fun background using the oven mitt image on the Watermelon Wonder cardstock.

VersaMark is a great stamp pad for any new stamper as well.  You can create fun backgrounds with this simple ink pad, and of course, it’s the perfect stamp pad to emboss images with.

Layers and More Layers

Craftiness in the Kitchen, Perfect Mix, Stampin' Up!

As always, I love to layer images and that was easily accomplished with this card and the baking images.

The images were layered onto a circle that was die cut using Kraft Cardstock and the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  I also added a small circle die cut from Watercolor Paper to add the greeting.

Many More Options

Craftiness in the Kitchen, Perfect Mix, Stampin' Up!

The Perfect Mix stamp set has many more options and I am only showing a few here today.  Instantly I can think of fun gift ideas to use this fun stamp set with.  A fun scrapbook page would be another fun option.

Here is another card I created using this stamp set.

Update on My Dad!

Thank you so much for your continued prayers for my dad.  He was discharged from the hospital on Friday night.  I wasn’t really happy about it as there were a few issues that were not resolved, but we put our trust in the professionals.  Well, that lasted for not even two days.  My dad ended up being re-admitted to the hospital on Sunday night.

Overall he looks better and getting stronger every single day.  The big risk for him is a stroke. As of today, he’s headed back home and we are praying his anti-coagulants are back in check.   Let’s hope this time for good.  Thank you for all of your prayers.  I appreciate you so much.  XOXOXOXO

Fun with Basket Bunch

Basket Bunch

Happy Thursday!

Before I dive into the Artisan blog hop for today, I thought I would let you know where I’ve been.  Not much creativity has happened over the last few weeks.

What’s Happening!

Last Wednesday my dad had surgery to repair a hernia.  Since then it’s been one complication after another, and he’s still in the hospital.  My family has been taking shifts to be there with my dad during his entire hospital stay.  I’ve been there at night with him.  Night shifts bring me back to my nursing days years and years ago.  I worked many night shifts back in the day.  However, I was much younger and didn’t have kids.  Needless to say, my body only wants to sleep ALL the time when I’m not with my dad.

I keep praying that we will see a change for the better.  It’s been a roller coaster ride.

Chocolate & Bunnies

Thankfully I had this Artisan project done way ahead of time to share.  I haven’t stamped anything in a few weeks with Alexis competition schedule and now my dad.

I’m sharing a fun project using the Basket Bunch stamp set with the Basket Builder Framelits.  This bundle is so fun and has the cutest little images.

Basket Bunch, Artisan, Stampin' Up!

I love the color combination of  Mint Macaron with Kraft cardstock.  That little bunny sure makes a statement.

Favors using Basket Bunch

I wanted to create a simple party favor for Alexis to hand out to her friends at school.  I love that I can still do this.

Basket Bunch, Artisan, Stampin' Up!

Creating these are super simple.  I used the Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Series Paper and wrapped in a cone shape.

Tips & Tricks

Keeping them together is easy using the Tear and Tape Adhesive.  Once the cone was created I folded the top over,  stacked the two doilies together and lastly stapled the Sale-a-Bration ribbon over the doilies.  I love the soft pastel color combinations the designer series paper offers.  I added a simple banner across the top and of course a little bunny.

The finishing touch was the tassel.  This tassel comes from the Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishment Kit.

Basket Bunch, Artisan, Stampin' Up!

I simply tied the tassel around the ribbon using Linen Thread.

Of course, don’t forget to fill your bunny cone favor with a fun chocolate or jelly beans.

You can see all of the products I used for this project below in the clickable links.

I hope you have enjoyed this little Easter project for today.  There are many more projects to see from our Artisan Team.  Simply click the button below and enjoy the blog hop.  First up is Louise Sharp.  I’m sure she will have something amazing to share.

Glittered Dragonfly Wings

Glittered Dragonfly Wings

Tutorial Bundle Blog Hop, Stampin' Up!

Today I am overloading you with inspiration.  I hope you don’t mind.  I’m a very lucky girl who gets to design with talented demonstrators each month for a bundled tutorial.

March Tutorial Bundle, Stampin' Up!, Dragonfly Dreams

We started the blog hops to give our viewers and customers an idea of our designing.

This month’s tutorial is over the top filled with not only cards but beautiful 3-D box ideas.

This tutorial might be my favorite yet!

Here is a sneak peek of the March tutorial.

March Tutorial Bundle, Stampin' Up!, Dragonfly Dreams

This month I used the Dragonfly Dreams Bundle for my tutorial project.  I love how majestic dragonflies look, and this set gives you so many opportunities to create a beautiful dragonfly any way you wish.

Below you will see another project I created using this set.  Dragonfly Dreams is a very fun set to create with.

Dragonfly Dreams

March Tutorial Bundle, Stampin' Up!, Dragonfly Dreams

One of my favorite die cuts from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies is the stack of dragonflies together.  I love the detail and how the change in direction.

Look how beautiful they display when using Glimmer Paper! I used the NEW 6 x 6 Glimmer Paper Assortment Stack (FREE Sale-a-Bration item) for my dragonflies.  This stack includes three colors of Glimmer Paper: Bermuda Bay, Mint Macaron, and  Sweet Sugarplum.

March Tutorial Bundle, Stampin' Up!, Dragonfly Dreams

Tips & Tricks

  • The base of the card is Mint Macaron 4-1/4″ x 11, scored at 5-1/2″.
  • The first layer is Watercolor Paper, with a watercolor wash using Pool Party ink.
  • I watercolored the Delicate White Doily using Pool Party ink.  Use an Aqua Painter to watercolor over the doily, then heat-set with a heat tool.
  • I used a staple to keep the ribbon, doily, and dragonflies in place and stapled onto a Stitched Shapes Square die cut.

March Tutorial Bundle, Stampin' Up!, Dragonfly Dreams

  • I wrapped a small strip of Mint Macaron cardstock (1/2″ x 4-1/2″) across the card with my greeting.

My project for this month’s tutorial was so much fun to create.  I created a beautiful box and four cards to go inside.  I was a little giddy over the project.

If you are looking for inspiration this month, look no further and see what this tutorial is all about.  Dare to be amazed. You can find past tutorials HERE for only $15.

Be Happy and Celebrate

Be Happy and Celebrate

Are you filled with happiness? Is there something you want to celebrate? Today I’m all about being happy and celebrating the little things.  I’m happy to share with the artisans today, and I’m especially glad that I was able to get time to stamp.

While my time as a mama has kept me from my stamp room the past few weeks I celebrate the tiny gaps of time, I can stamp. It makes my heart happy!

Today, be inspired by the artisan team.  Let us celebrate the little things.

Happy Celebrations

Today I’m sharing a few cards using the Happy Celebrations stamp set.  I love the word art in this stamp set.  Plus, I am in love with the coordinating Textured Impressions Embossing Folders, Celebrations Duo.  If you heard a loud squeal, it was me!  I embossed my first piece and let out a big SQUEAL! Oh my word, they are FANTASTIC!

Happy, Celebrate, Stampin' Up!, Happy Celebrations

The deep impression that the Celebrations Duo creates is great.  Even better is when you add a little watercolor to the embossed area.  HOLY MOLY!

Happy, Celebrate, Stampin' Up!, Happy Celebrations

Here’s the thing, when I applied the watercolored ink over the embossed area I put it on very wet.  I love how the ink pooled and created a shadow around the letters on its own.

Tips & Tricks

  • I cut the 5/8″ Mini Striped Ribbon in half to create a thinner piece.  You will notice that the ribbon started to unravel, but this created such a fun look.
  • The Celebrations Duo Embossing Folder looks fantastic on Watercolor paper as I used on this card.
  • I created an Ombre on the watercolor paper using Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, and Watermelon Wonder inks.

Happy, Celebrate, Stampin' Up!, Happy Celebrations

So Very Happy

I realize I’ve been pretty absent from my usual blogging.  I have so much to tell you and promise to let you in on the happiness soon.

My next card made me giggle with joy.  It describes how I’m feeling lately.  Although I’ve been pretty overwhelmed with “things” happening, the happy meter has been high. Being happy is a great thing, and I think I will frame this card as a reminder of the days my happy meter is low.

Happy, Celebrate, Stampin' Up!, Happy Celebrations

Tips & Tricks

  • I stamped the word happy onto Watercolor paper using Archival Basic Black ink.  Then I watercolored over the entire image using Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, and Watermelon Wonder inks.  Then I fussy cut the letters.
  • I used the “Happy” from the Celebrations Duo Embossing Folders on Whisper White cardstock.  I then stacked the words over, so there was a whole lot of happy coming from this card.
  • The polka dots were stamped using Calypso Coral and stamped off once before stamping on the Whisper White cardstock.
  • I used the leftover ribbon from the last card to add to this card.
  • Look closely, and you can see I watercolored my Delicate White Doily to Calypso Coral.  Boy, can this make you happy quick?  Isn’t it wonderful we can make these doilies ANY color we want???  YES!

Happy, Celebrate, Stampin' Up!, Happy Celebrations

Celebrate Your Happiness

Happy, Celebrate, Stampin' Up!, Happy Celebrations

I don’t know about you, but many times I have to remind myself of all the goodness that surrounds me.  I can quickly get caught up in a lot of negative Nellie stuff.  It’s not healthy.  Let’s remind us to put on our happy pants and spread that happiness to others.

Now be inspired and HAPPY by seeing what the other artisans are sharing today.  If anything, find a little time to create, and I’m quite sure you will find happiness.

Be Inspired- Sending Love

Be Inspired- Sending Love

Sending Love, Stampin' Up!, Carousel Birthday

I’m super excited about today’s Be Inspired Blog Hop with a theme all about sending love.  You might have just come from Carolynn’s blog.  What a fun hop we have in store for today!

The past two weeks I’ve been flying by the seat of my pants with EVERYTHING in my life. I’m having one of those months where I completely over-scheduled events.  Not so much stamping events, but life events.  Have you experienced this?

Typically I do not find the month of February causing this much angst, more like the month of December.  However, Alexis gymnastic meets have added busy-ness to our schedule with the traveling.  In fact, we just came back from a competition in Orlando over the weekend, and I’m steadily trying to catch up.

Two Ships Sailing Different Directions

I’ve been feeling like Russ, and I are two passing ships with the crazy schedule we’ve created.

Obviously, this is a season in our lives when raising two teenagers.  We totally get it, but as you know when schedules get chaotic the lines of communication are drastically reduced, and this only causes tension.  This tension is what I like to call, communication chaos.

Luckily for me, I can get a little creative in my communications to Russ.

Creative Love

As you know, stamping gives us a way of communicating a simple sweet love message.  I like leaving Russ love notes, and I love when I have a stamp set that has the perfect words to convey my message.

I couldn’t have said this any better…. “You’re My Person!”

Sending Love, Stampin' Up!, Falling For You stamp set

As much as my Prince can get on my nerves, he’s my person.  He gets me.  He still loves me when I’m grouchy, and I love him although it can be hard.  Know what I mean?

The stamp set Falling for You summed it all up!  It’s a great set for all types of LOVE occasions such as anniversaries, bride & grooms and of course a simple love message.

Sending Love, Stampin' Up!, Falling For You stamp set

Keeping it Simple

Keeping things simple for me is always difficult.  I wanted to keep this card simple. However, I also wanted to use a different flower for the focal point of this card.

I loved the flower from the So in Love stamp set.  It’s a beautiful flower to watercolor.

Sending Love, Stampin' Up!, Falling For You stamp set

Tips & Tricks

  • The flower was stamped using Archival Basic Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock then watercolored using my Aqua Painter with Blushing Bride and Watermelon Wonder ink.
  • I watercolored the image using the Blushing Bride ink first and then heat set with my Heat Tool.  Then I added the Watermelon Wonder ink over a few of the petals to add contrast.
  • I loved the So Detailed Thinlits die cut and placed this under the circle die cut.  I love how this individual die cut adds a very delicate look to the entire card.

  • Save 10% by purchasing the So in Love Bundle.  Look at the beautiful details found in the So Detailed Thinlits.

While Russ and I continue to plug along with our scheduled chaos, I know something simple like this card can bring a smile to his face and he will know how much I love him despite our ships passing in the wind.

Be Inspired

While I hope today’s card and message inspires you to do the same, there is more inspiration to see.  The Be Inspired Team has a great line up of beautiful projects for you to see.  Click the button below to see Nadine’s project.
