CJMS Back-to-school Picnic Social + Activities Fair – Friday, September 21, 5 -7pm – Rain or shine!
Join us for fun and food! Free and open to all CJMS students, teachers, parents, and siblings. Come and enjoy carnival games: break-a-plate, ricochet, roller bowler, strike zone, crazy driver, flap attack and spider suppertime!! …and more!… photo booth, DJ, free pop corn and cotton candy! Bring cash or credit card for food trucks (ice cream and pizza), spirit wear from the School Store, and PTSA membership.
Also, CJMS and the PTSA will showcase the planned offerings for after school activities across the year! Come to learn about opportunities for students, including new ones such as the Invent the Future Challenge, and find out how to register.
Join your Friends for the First CJMS Restaurant Night on October 1!
Mark your calendars for the first Restaurant Spirit Night to benefit Cabin John PTSA! Join us at the new CAVA Cabin John Mall and CAVA Kentlands on Monday, October 1 between 6-10pm. Make sure to mention Cabin John PTSA. We need at least ten families at EACH location for this night to be a success so bring a friend for a healthy and delicious night out for a good cause!
Registration for the CJMS Model UN club opens next week
Model UN teaches students public speaking skills, conflict management skills, research and analysis, and expands students’ understanding of global issues. The CJMS Model United Nations Club is open to all 6th, 7th and 8th graders, and registration runs from Monday, September 24th, at 3pm to Monday October 1st, at 11pm. Participation is limited to 40 students and will be offered on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Students will have the opportunity to attend at least two conferences; a Training Conference ($20) on November 15, 2018 at the Pan American Health Organization in Washington, DC and a Spring Model UN Conference ($45) on May 1, 2019 at the U.S Department of State. Seasoned Model UN students will also have the opportunity to participate in the GWCIA XXIII – Greater Washington Conference on International Affairs ($30) on November 17, 2018 at Georges Washington University. Financial aid is available. Parent volunteers are welcomed.

Montgomery County and KID Museum’s annual KIDfest: September 23, 12pm – 5pm
We want you to take on the Invent the Future Challenge! Come to KID Museum’s KIDfest, a celebration of creativity and innovation, on September 23 in downtown Silver Spring to learn about the Challenge and get the inspiration you need to invent the future. Plus, you’ll earn SSL hours for attending (be sure to take a photo of yourself at the “Invent the Future” booth).
