Today was day 1 of 2 of our journey to The Cleveland Clinic for a whole bunch of appointments in a lot less time than if I would have done them at home. Today included seeing a neuro, social worker, and speech pathologist to evaluate my dysphagia. Good news. I am NOT crazy and truly do have an issue with food getting stuck in my throat. Along with some facial muscle weakness, coordination issues, yadda yadda. We will be able to develop a plan after tomorrow's barium swallow. Tomorrow is also my first PT appointment! I'm excited because I know I need it but also not looking forward to how I might feel afterwards. I know how something as simple as sitting upright hurts my body, so I'm a bit anxious to do things that will frustrate me to tears. One day at a time... #schuplindoeslemtrada #multiplesclerosis
"I regret nothing." Instead of going in on Tuesday, Day 5 was delayed until Wednesday (6 days) because my neuro was waiting for the report from my time in the hospital. The day was pretty standard until about 20 minutes left on my Lemtrada drip. Of course, right? Lol! My throat started to tighten and panic set in, so they gave me a some Benadryl and started checking on me more. It took about 2 hours to settle down and I was advised to take 100mg of Vistaril 'round the clock as a precaution. Which is only sort of working. My throat is still tight but not 'go to the hospital just yet' tight. Also, I now own a shiny teal rollator walker and I hate that I waited so long to get it because I feel a million times more confident when I use it. Now my job is to rest, stay hydrated, and avoid situations that induce roid rage because my roid rage flips on in the blink of an eye. Child throwing a fit? Off my rocker. Having to repeat myself? Over the cliff. #schuplindoeslemtrada #multiplesclerosis
As most of Snapchat already knows ( malleryschuplin) instead of getting my 5th day of Lemtrada, I was still in the hospital. Things were a little dicey for a minute, so I was moved to the progressive care unit to be monitored for just shy of 48 hours total. Per the discharge papers, I had an allergic reaction, and I have acute hypokalemia, thrombocytopenia, and multiple sclerosis. They also said I shouldn't get day 5 sooooo... LOL! I never imagined it would/could go south so quickly. My mom actually dressed me last night because it just wasn't gonna happen. OT/PT recommended a rollator and a grabber to help with my blood pressure and inability to walk, but said I'm not to the point of needing something to help me wipe. Ha! I can't wait to see what my neuro says tomorrow. #schuplindoeslemtrada #multiplesclerosis
