Butterfly Basics

I’ve been participating in a friend’s weekly challenges lately. The SU! Butterfly Basics set has always been a favorite of hers, so she chose for us to use it this week. It is a favorite of mine as well, so I enjoyed playing along. I’m also enjoying just working with butterflies and flowers again! Here I used Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, and Berry Burst. I believe the lower butterfly is So Saffron.

Have a great weekend!

vintage clocks bridge card

Today I have a Bridge Card using the Creative Worship Stamps (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps) new Vintage Clocks stamp & die bundle. I love this sentiment because it could be used for grandchildren or also grandparents! Here I stamped the grandfather clock image and placed it on one front side of the bridge card (it fits perfectly!). Then I placed my sentiment flag on the other side. I also added some florals to the “bridge” with the new Delicate Florals Bundle.

Have an awesome day!

shower card and pleated gift wrap

I have a second post for today…here’s a bridal shower card that I needed for this past weekend. The bride’s color is purple, and she loves sunflowers. Here I used a dark, textured purple cardstock for the base and SU! Perfect Plum for the layer. The white layer was die cut with a Penny Black rectangle die and the sunflowers are from a PinkFresh Studio washi tape and coordinating dies. The dress is from the Creative Worship Stamps (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps) Mr. & Mrs. stamp & die bundle. I also used a sentiment on the inside from the Engagement & Wedding Innies set. Her name was printed on the computer; this is one of the things that I love about this hobby…being able to personalize projects!

I also wanted to share how the gift was wrapped up. I found this pleated gift-wrapping tutorial and gave it a try. Then I used my wax seal kit on the bottom center and tucked a few things into the pleats. I printed their photo in purple (I blurred the faces here). Then the card was tucked into the top pleat.

I have a few of the sunflowers leftover from this project so you may see them show up later on the wedding card. 🙂

Have a great week!

delicate florals

Good morning! Today I have a quick card that I made for a friend’s challenge to use black, white, and tan. I started with a black & white floral-patterned paper for the background. Then I embossed the tan panel and layered some flowers from the new Creative Worship Stamps (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps) Delicate Florals Bundle. The sentiment is from Be Encouraged 2.

Have a great Tuesday!

Flying Butterfly Clothespin Craft

Today I have another interactive project…but this time it’s a fun craft for kids inspired by this video on Instagram. I used the new Embrace Change Bundle by Creative Worship Stamps (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps) to make the butterfly.

Here’s a quick photo tutorial showing how to make it. Scroll down for a short video to show the fluttering wings. 😊 My helper had a lot of fun making this and even helped to die cut the butterfly.

Check out the video to see it in action. Have a great day!

Butterfly Easel Spinner Card

Good morning! Today Creative Worship Stamps (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps) is having their April Instagram Hop. Be sure to check over there for this card plus all the other projects in the hop, and comment on IG for a chance to win a $25 prize. You can find me on IG- @papercookies4u, and the hop will start at @sweetnsassystamps.

For my card, I used products from the April new release. Here I used the new Embrace Change Bundle and Delicate Florals Bundle, plus the previously released Circle Dies to create a fun, interactive card.

When I saw these butterflies and how they are symmetrical, I knew I wanted to make a spinner card. Then I thought it would be fun to try to turn the spinner into an easel card as well. (see video below). I figured some simple measurements and cut/scored my cardstock base so that it would fit in an A2 envy and also be big enough for my butterfly to spin. When opened, the card front is supported by the sentiment and the butterfly spins freely. If desired, you can wind it up before inserting into the envelope for a fun surprise!

When folded shut, it lays flat for mailing.

I started with a 4 x 12 piece of cardstock for the base and scored it @ 4″ and 8″. Then I chose a die with approx. 2 3/4″ diameter to create the opening. I laid a 3 3/4″ square of white cardstock on top of one of the end sections WITHOUT GLUING IT DOWN and die cut through both pieces at once so that they would line back up together later. You can remove the white piece and emboss it, as I did, or use patterned paper instead, if desired.

I stamped, colored, and die cut two butterflies and set them aside. Then add a light string or fishing line with Scor-Tape above and below the window and trim the ends. Next replace and adhere the white layer on top, sandwiching the string between the layer and the base.

Adhere the butterflies with their backs together and the string between them. I then trimmed 1/8″ from the opposite end of the card base so that it would easily fold inside the card. Add some patterned papers, images, or embellishments as desired.

Here’s a little video to show the butterfly spinning.

I hope you try this fun card! Enjoy the hop and be sure to comment on Instagram for a chance to win!

Quiver and Wings / Woodblock Wednesday

I’m a little late posting, but I made a quick card for the March Woodblock Wednesday Challenge using some older Penny Black butterfly stamps called Quiver and Wings. The sentiment is from SU!. I have been loving the butterfly images lately…I’m waiting for the Spring temps to return!

Happy Easter!

Lovely Lavender alternates

Today I’m sharing the SU! January 2024 Paper Pumpkin kit and the alternates that I made. The first two cards were mostly following the directions. I just changed up the sentiments and added some sequins.

The next two were completely different from the kit. I cut the backs off of the previous cards to use as a background on these, then adhered the previous cards to a white card base. I think the first one below is my favorite. 🙂

Have a wonderful Easter!

vellum overlay

I have one more card to share using products from the Creative Worship Stamps (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps) March release.

Products used: Messy Marks Background, Dearest Friend, The Lord is Near.

I started this card by stamping the Messy Marks Background using a kraft colored ink onto kraft cardstock. I loved the subtle effect, but it was just a bit too subtle. So, I stamped it again in black, just slightly offset from the first stamping. Then, to tone it down a bit so it wouldn’t be too busy for the layers, I added a piece of vellum with the top and bottom edges torn away. A layer of patterned paper was placed under the sentiment and the flowers are simply stamp in black and fussy cut.

Have a great evening!

kiwi OSW

I am sharing an easy OSW (one sheet wonder) today. Our friend, Tina, has been giving us challenges again each week. This week we were to make an OSW into 4 cards, in a style a stamper named Connie Trubey does often. My fourth card was changed up a bit because I accidentally dropped my black inkpad. Oops! I like both styles, though…happy accident. 🙂

Here’s the full sheet (8 1/2 x 11) that I made. I decided to stamp my images in 2 rows.

I finally took time to coordinate some envelopes. 🙂

Products used…

Have a great day and stay warm! What happened to our spring weather?
