By October 3, 1959, Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami (Gurudeva) had established in San Francisco what is believed to have been the USA's first Hindu temple. There on that day, he gave an amazingly powerful 20-minute talk which many feel encompassed Hinduism's entire thrust and ultimate teaching—and in clear, succinct, contemporary language.
