What comes to mind when you think of Independence Day celebrations?   Picnics, Ice Cream, Barbecues and Fireworks are just some of the many ways we choose to celebrate every 4th of July.

Here in the Northern Nevada Area we have a lot of great ways to celebrate our countries Independence.  Most events are affordable and free.

Star Spangled Sparks Fireworks #StarSpangledSparks (July 3rd)

The 17th annual Star Spangled Sparks fireworks show and Independence Day celebration has been our favorite place to celebrate.

  • Kids’Area
    Face painting, clowns and magicians roaming Victorian square, as well as an array of rides and activities.  The kids’ area will be located on Victorian Plaza, adjacent to Century Theaters, and will include games, a super slide and mechanical rides. Ride tickets will be available for purchase just outside the Kids’ Area.

Tales from Underwood: Fred Mouse and the Underfolk meet a Very Big Owl. Story and art project.

7/4 – Family Series Celebrate America

Starting at 5:00pm
Bring the family for fun activities, projects and art. Men Wielding Fire, Dolce Delight will be on hand to dine. Then at 7:30 p.m. experience a free Fourth of July Celebration with Reno's own Philharmonic. Followed by fireworks at dusk.

7/5 – Discover Improv

9:30am  to 11:30 am
Bring your 6-12 year old actor to learn about the art of acting www.kidscape.com. Followed by project presented by Arts For All Nevada.

Celebrate Father’s Day at the National Automobile Museum for the Great Race

This year celebrate Father's day and take Dad to the National Automobile Museum where 120 collector cars will come through Reno for the The Hemmings Motor News Great Race.

The Great Race is a national collector automobile rally that travels across a different region of the US each year for a $150,000 prize. The cars race cross-country from San Rafael, California to Moline, Illinois on back-country driving courses to accommodate the age and speed of the cars, and awards $150,000 in prize money.

Classic cars at the Great Race on Father's Day

The Great Race arrival ceremony begins June 19 at 4:20 p.m. in the Museum parking lot with a presentation of colors by the Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada, National Anthem sung by Kimberly Dixon, Pledge of Allegiance and introduction of dignitaries. Cars arrive approximately one minute apart between 4:30-6:30 p.m.
