Easy way to feed your garden birds

I'm back, I've been inspired.

We had some cooking margarine that went out of date & I was lead to feeding the birds with it as we're just coming into the chilly season here in the UK.

I melted down the margarine (you can also use margarine, lard or butter, the birds prefer lard and butter).

Threw in some old apples chopped up.

Add a lot of bird seed, but leaving enough melted margarine to help bind it all.

Poured the mix back into the margarine tubs.

Let them set as much as they will, can even put them in the fridge, or drop a string in so you can hang it from a tree at a later date.

N.B. If you are using margarine, don't set them up to string for a tree because margarine has a habit of breaking down before the birds get to it.

The Magic of Snow

Sitting on the doorstep in just a nightie at 6am watching the snow falling.

It sounds surreal, but that's what I was doing this morning. It allows a little time for contemplation before the onslaught of the day. I love the snow, it always makes me happy. It looks beautiful, magical and perfect, until someone makes a footprint in it. Even then it still holds a magical feel to it.

How many of you love the snow out there, would rather not be on a hot sweaty beach?

Just some natural remedies

Nature's usefulness for various ailments range from common knowledge to the unusual. I'll be listing some here.

- witch hazel is great for bringing out bruises quickly and closing open pores (will help with spots). Seems ok to use on eczema.
- peppermint oil, rubbed on temples is great for a headache.
- Whiskey or brandy, honey & lemon work wonders on a sore throat.

My son is very good at getting hurt so these remedies are really helpful.

The Dark Road of the Goddess ~ 20th March 2008

".....Stoned on courage inside your lover's cave,
you drink the darkness,
stroke a kitten's ghost, and pity her.
.....Before you know it,
the animals, plants and weather goddesses
are following your rhythm, making a hollow time
for souls to rest between fiestas....."

Found this on the Helium website on a article about 'The Dark Road of the Goddess: The Anti-Feminist Pagan Path'. It enabled me to re-think the way I work, as a Pagan & what happens when the full-moon rise, like it has started to today.

I, among many others, feel the dark when the moon is on it's full-moon phase. This darkness can be so overwhelming that you feel nothing else. Most people I know start to become very feral at this time of the moon-cycle.

Another factor of today, specifically would be the Spring Equinox. Rituals of which you will find on the Circle of Light site and the Times & Tides site.

The Seasons are the only time of the year that 'time' in it's own right, exists. The rising of the sun & rising of the moon offer us a more exact 'time', but time as it's own concept a) belongs to the Seasons and b) only exists within society because of it's concept & it has made society what it is now, a slave to it's own creation: Time. (Other such traumas of society exist such as the slavery to the machine or the computer, we create them, integrate them into society, then we become slaves to them).
